The Stampede formula — Dolly Parton's since 1988 — is simple and bulletproof: put 1,000 guests on two long tiers facing a dirt-floor arena longer than a football field is wide, give every seat a four-course Southern dinner, and fill the hour-and-a-half with things you can't see anywhere else in town. Thirty-two horses and a cast of trick riders open the show at full speed; from there it rolls through Roman riding, barrel races, audience competitions (chicken chasing and pig races draft guests from the crowd), racing ostriches, longhorn cattle drives, aerial acts, and pyrotechnic finales, all framed as a good-natured North-versus-South rivalry your seating section votes on with cheers.

The meal is half the legend: creamy vegetable soup with a buttery biscuit, a whole rotisserie chicken each, hickory-smoked barbecue pork loin, corn on the cob, herb-basted potato, and a turnover for dessert — served in quantity, eaten by tradition with your hands (silverware available on request), with unlimited Pepsi products, tea, or coffee. Vegetarian and allergy plates exist; tell them at booking. Come 50 minutes early for the Horse Walk preshow and the opening act in the Carriage Room.

From early November through December the Stampede becomes Christmas at the Stampede: the arena goes holiday with a living nativity, Dickens-costumed cast, holiday music, and falling snow — a pillar of Branson's Ozark Mountain Christmas season and a hotter ticket than summer. Shows run one or two performances most evenings on a seasonal calendar (dark midwinter, typically January-February). The arena sits right on the West Highway 76 strip.

What to Expect

Format

A 1,000-seat arena dinner show — trick riding on 32 horses, audience competitions, racing ostriches, and pyrotechnics, served with a fixed four-course Southern feast eaten by hand. About 90 minutes plus a preshow.

Best Time

The early show suits young kids; evenings suit everyone else. November-December's Christmas production is the seasonal highlight — book it well ahead.

Duration

Plan 2 to 2.5 hours door to door including the Carriage Room preshow.

Tips

Book online ahead; this is Branson's most-attended dinner show. Arrive 50 minutes early for the Horse Walk and preshow. The meal is fixed-menu — flag vegetarian or allergy needs when booking. Center sections sit closest to the action; the North-South seating split is the fun, not a quality difference.

⚡ Quick Picks

Best For

Families and first-timers who want Branson's signature night out — dinner and spectacle solved in one booking.

Families

The benchmark family evening in town — kids get picked for arena games, and nobody has to negotiate a menu.

Couples

Fun, but it's a loud, communal spectacle — couples after a quieter evening should pick the Showboat instead.

Pair With

Silver Dollar City by day, Stampede by night is the classic Branson family day one.

Time Needed

One evening.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the ticket?

The full show and the four-course feast — soup and biscuit, a whole rotisserie chicken, barbecue pork loin, corn, potato, dessert turnover, and unlimited soft drinks, tea, or coffee. Vegetarian and allergy-friendly meals are available if requested at booking.

Do you really eat without silverware?

That's the tradition — the meal is designed for it — but silverware is cheerfully provided on request.

Is Dolly Parton there?

No — it's her production, not her performance. She appears on screen; the arena cast and 32 horses do the rest.

What is the Christmas show?

From early November through December the production goes fully holiday — living nativity, costumed cast, holiday music, and indoor snow. It's one of the anchors of Branson's Christmas season and sells out weekends.

Where is it?

Right on West Highway 76, the main Branson strip, with free parking on site.
